Support Dark-Sky Legislation in Massachusetts!

Senate Majority Leader Cynthia Creem and Representative Sean Garballey have once again submitted identical “dark sky” bills for consideration in this legislative session. The Senate version is S.1937, and the House version is H.2858.

These bills have garnered bipartisan legislative support with a total of 24 co-sponsors!

So, if you haven’t already done so, contact your state House and Senate representatives to enlist their support. (Use this link to find out who they are.)

Whether contacting your rep’s offices by email, be sure to include and/or refer to this fact sheet that summarizes the bills’ key sections and the reasons that this this legislation is needed.

Remember: Last session’s bill passed the Senate but failed to clear the House-Senate Conference Committee. Let’s get this session’s bill to Governor Baker’s desk!

Dark skies are beneficial on so many levels — for plants and animals, for human health (better sleep), for our nighttime enjoyment, and for reducing energy costs. Please make an effort to push this bill forward in 2021. Thank you.
