DarkSky International’s Massachusetts Chapter consists of a diverse group of volunteers spread across the state, from the Berkshires to Cape Cod and Islands. These health-care professionals, astronomers and citizen activists — all concerned about issues related to outdoor light at night — share the common goal of minimizing the light pollution, energy waste, and environmental disruption that results from poor nighttime lighting.

Our Mission:

Our Strategic Plan
This plan was developed over the course of several months starting in autumn 2024.  All members of DarkSky Massachusetts were invited to participate, and invitations and updates were offered at every DarkSky Massachusetts monthly meeting from September 2024 to July 2025.  The plan was developed iteratively and collaboratively over four dedicated meetings. The result is that, going forward, DarkSky Massachusetts will organize its main efforts during the next three years into four categories, each guided by a dedicated committee working in concert with the chapter’s Executive Committee.
