Although our chapter only formed in 2018, we already have amassed an impressive record of accomplishment. You can read all about it in the IDA-MA 2019 Annual Report, which has been forwarded to IDA’s headquarters in Tucson, Arizona.
The past year’s accomplishments are many, including a star-studded annual meeting and literally dozens of public presentations and interviews by our members. And of course we continue to promote statewide regulations that, if enacted later this year, will be the first to limit correlated color temperature to no higher than 3000 Kelvins — assuring that the amount of nocturnally harmful blue light is kept in check.
In the coming year, IDA-MA has an ambitious “to do” list, including:
- passage of statewide lighting legislation
- aggressive engagement of local stakeholders
- coordinated involvement with municipalities to develop outdoor-lighting bylaws and ordinances
- scheduling of public events to showcase the night sky and create light-pollution awareness
- coordination of statewide effort to collect meaningful sky-quality measurements
With the new year under way, IDA-MA is looking forward to more growth, more successes, and preserving more stars in our nighttime skies.
