On Saturday, August 25th, dark-sky advocates from around Massachusetts met at Whitin Observatory on the campus of Wellesley College for the inaugural meeting of IDA’s Massachusetts chapter. Attendees got updates on efforts to pass a statewide lighting bill, our expanding contacts with state officials, and progress in establishing the IDA-sponsored LLC that will provide the framework for the chapter. Then the group split up to get background LED lighting and on how to create outdoor-lighting ordinances locally. The 2-hour get-together culminated with remarks from Scott Feierabend, IDA’s Executive Director, who joined the event remotely from Tucson, Arizona.
